Extras.tv is a network designed to bring together directors with film and television extras from across the world. The site receives industry information on new and upcoming TV and film productions, and its members have often been selected by directors for feature film and television work.

Established in 2000, the extras site evolved into a connected, successful community network with hundreds of members personalizing their own web pages with photographs and contact information for industry players to search through. ‘I wanted my site to be more interactive, and with SocialGO everything I wanted was there for me, it was already built.’ said Martin Baker, creator of extras.tv.

‘It was an easy financial decision,’ Mr. Baker said, when speaking of the affordability of the plan he chose to build his community. He also expressed satisfaction with the ease in which he was able to design and maintain the network, ‘As soon as I tried the network, I liked it.’

Based on a simple concept, directors, their assistants, and casting agents convene upon the site to find extras. On occasion, Mr. Baker is contacted directly by the industry players so he can find those required for the project at hand - some members even auditioning for or obtaining speaking roles.

An abundance of people aim to break into the film and television industry as actors with extra work often being the first stepping stone along the way, while others seek such work solely as a hobby or for a supplemental income. Regardless of one’s ambition, a network such as extras.tv is a sure way to be seen and heard in a simple, interactive, and successful context in a world where innumerable people are desperate to find work within these grounds.
