Featured Networks, Press

Extras.tv is a network designed to bring together directors with film and television extras from across the world. The site receives industry information on new and upcoming TV and film productions, and its members have often been selected by directors for feature film and television work.

Established in 2000, the extras site evolved into a connected, successful community network with hundreds of members personalizing their own web pages with photographs and contact information for industry players to search through. ‘I wanted my site to be more interactive, and with SocialGO everything I wanted was there for me, it was already built.’ said Martin Baker, creator of extras.tv.

‘It was an easy financial decision,’ Mr. Baker said, when speaking of the affordability of the plan he chose to build his community. He also expressed satisfaction with the ease in which he was able to design and maintain the network, ‘As soon as I tried the network, I liked it.’

Based on a simple concept, directors, their assistants, and casting agents convene upon the site to find extras. On occasion, Mr. Baker is contacted directly by the industry players so he can find those required for the project at hand - some members even auditioning for or obtaining speaking roles.

An abundance of people aim to break into the film and television industry as actors with extra work often being the first stepping stone along the way, while others seek such work solely as a hobby or for a supplemental income. Regardless of one’s ambition, a network such as extras.tv is a sure way to be seen and heard in a simple, interactive, and successful context in a world where innumerable people are desperate to find work within these grounds.

About Extras.TV

By Martin Baker

How it Works.

Extras.TV receives industry information on new upcoming TV and Film productions. Many assistant directors have looked at our site over the last 5 years looking for extras to use in their new productions

There is no better way to put yourself in front of these directors and make yourself available for this work than by having your own personal web page on Extras.TV.
You can have up to 300 photographs on your page. These pictures are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to anyone searching our site for extras.

You can log into your personal web page whenever you wish to enter, update and alter your personal information and description.

You should try and upload photos showing yourself in different types of dress, as well as a head shot and full length shot. This will give assistant directors a better insight into your suitability for their needs.

TV / Film Extras can be of any age, size, shape or personality from children to pensioners both men and women alike. Looks are not important, therefore the chance of appearing in
films and on TV is open to everyone.

Due to cable and satellite TV and a huge rise in productions made by smaller independent film companies, the demand for new faces is greater than ever. Many people dream of working in Films, TV Shows, Commercials and working as an Extra is an excellent opportunity to work side by side with famous actors.

You do not need to give up your present job to work as an Extra as once registered you can decide whether you wish to work part-time, full-time or just in your spare time.

TV & Film Extras are paid very well, the average payment for a days work(approximately 9 hours with an hour lunch break) is £70 with the chance to earnmuch more. You will also receive your meals free of charge. It is also possible to add to basic pay. You could be paid extra for utilising special skills such as driving, swimming etc. Or you could even be asked to say a few words in the production.

Overtime is often available at an approximate rate of £12 per hour. It has been difficult in the past to work as an Extra as the industry was a 'closed shop' and you were only allowed to work if you had an Equity card. This has now changed, an Equity card is no longer required and productions frequently require new faces.

You can now register with Extras.TV free of charge for  our standard membership. However, to be kept up to date with the latest opportunities and to be considered for jobs where we are asked to select and provide extras for a production you should register as a Premier Extra which costs just £5 per year.

Welcome to Extras.TV
